NC MEMBERS: RE NATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING

September 16, 2004

ORGANIZATION MEMORANDUM NO. 2, SERIES OF 2004

ATTENTION: NATIONAL COUNCIL MEMBERS

ALL FORMATION (PROVINCIAL/ REGIONAL CHAPTERS, ADHOC) LEADERS and COORDINATORS

RE: 1ST NATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING UNDER THE 32ND NATIONAL CONGRESS

Colleagues,
Warmest greetings from the National Office.

The 1st National Council Meeting under the 32nd National Student Press Congress of the College Editors Guild of the Philippines will be on October 28- 30.
The National Council, which convenes every six months, is the second highest policy- making body of the Guild. The National Office hence, is requesting all formation leaders and coordinators to prepare the following:
a. six month comprehensive report

b. documentation of campus press freedom in your area

c. campus watch

d. special projects

Meanwhile, the documentation of campus press freedom situation in your area must contain the following data:

a. CPF campaign school
b. total number of schools operating in your area of responsibility
c. total number of publications established in schools operating in your jurisdiction
d. list of member publications

Due to time constraint of the Congress in Cebu, we have not deliberated the General Program of Action for two years. It will also be one of our agenda.

In seventy- three years of existence, our organization today is known as the national center for the advancement of campus press freedom, thus it is then our task to strive harder, fight the enemies of CPF, and look forward for victorious campaigns. However, we shall not be demoralized in our defeats. We shall take it as a lesson in our continuing struggle for genuine campus press freedom.

The key to a successful campaign is dictated by a magnificent plan and tactics. In our case, we base our plans and tactics in our previous struggles against campus press freedom repressions.

Since most of these campaigns are related to the implementation of the Campus Journalism Act of 1991 otherwise known as RA 7079, it is then one of our agenda of what specific and material action shall be done to concretize our steps to call for the amendments or the repeal of this act.

Moreover, we must also continue to be at the forefront of the youth and students struggle against the intensifying commercialization of Philippine education. It is also our task to link arms with the people against the oppressions of the state.

Thank you and we are hoping to see at this event.
